Sky-Italia, NASN team for U.S. sports

ROME -- Italian satellite broadcaster Sky-Italia has reached a deal to distribute professional football, baseball and hockey content from London-based ESPN subsidiary NASN.

The deal, announced Monday, will make more than 750 hours of content per month available to Sky's 4.4 million paid subscribers, and will be ESPN's largest international high-definition television account.

Terms of the pact were not disclosed.

Of the sports that will be broadcast regularly on NASN, basketball is the most popular in Italy.

NASN is the ESPN unit that distributes the broadcaster's content in Europe. With the Sky deal, NASN will reach more than 13 million televisions in 40 countries -- about a third of them in Italy.
