'Slumdog' star joins 'Shyam's Secret'

Child actor Khedekar will co-star in adventure tale

More Cannes coverage

CANNES -- "Slumdog Millionaire" child star Ayush Mahesh Khedekar is returning to the big screen for the Swiss film "Shyam's Secret," producers Vergari Studio-Mangola Films and Vinay Pictures said Friday.

Khedekar, who played young Jamal in Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning drama, will co-star in "Secret," an adventure tale set in India about an 8-year-old girl and her friendship with a mysterious boy named Shyam.

Filming begins in October in India and will be shot in French and English.

Khedekar is due in Cannes on Sunday for a five-day red-carpet romp to promote the movie.

"It's a magical film for all audiences," Mangola producer France Berthou said.
