SoapNet asks out 'Holidate'

SoapNet has greenlighted the reality special/backdoor pilot "Holidate" and has acquired all seven seasons of "Gilmore Girls" as well as movie packages from Disney ABC Domestic TV and Twentieth TV.

"Holidate," from ABC Media Prods., is a reality take on the movie "Holiday" and will have two single women who are unsuccessful in finding the right man temporarily swap lives, moving into each other's homes and dating the men in each other's lives.

"Holidate," which begins production this month for a fall premiere, is one of several projects on SoapNet's development slate, which includes an unscripted series about celebrity mother-daughter pairs working with a therapist. It also is developing the scripted series "Julia's Tango," about a woman turning her family home in Buenos Aires into a bed and breakfast, and "Santa Monica," about four twentysomething best friends living together and embarking on adulthood.

"Gilmore," from Warner Bros. Domestic TV, airs repeats on ABC Family. It will move to sister SoapNet on April 4. (partialdiff)
