Social Climbers Charts: ‘Game of Thrones’ Holds Top Scripted Lead, ‘Jane the Virgin’ Soars

The charts rank the most popular personalities and TV shows based on data from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Game of Thrones and Jane the Virgin see sizable gains on The Hollywood Reporter’s latest Top Scripted TV charts, the former remaining at No. 1 and the latter entering the chart at No. 8 on the April 24-dated tallies.

THR’s Social Climbers charts are rankings of the most popular entities on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus, with global data provided by social media analytics company MVPindex. The chart's methodology blends engagement to entities’ social media accounts along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers. The latest tracking week ended April 16.

Game of Thrones snags a second week at No. 1 on Top Scripted following the April 14 premiere of its eighth season on HBO. Social media was atwitter amid the premiere, with the show’s accounts scoring boosts of 134 percent (2.3 million total) in Twitter likes and 253 percent (298,000) in Twitter mentions alongside 236,000 new followers.

Jane the Virgin, meanwhile, hops from No. 10 to No. 8 on Top Scripted after an April 12 Instagram post reviving a love triangle of the show that got fans talking, becoming the fifth-biggest post on the platform for the CW show’s official account in the past year with 100,000 engagements. Like Thrones, Jane the Virgin is also in the midst of its final season.

Meanwhile, NBC's Saturday Night Live again crowns Top News/Talk/Variety, garnering a 311 percent boost in all engagement after the latest episode, hosted by Emma Stone and featuring musical guest BTS, while ABC's American Idol retains its hold on Top Unscripted as it moves into its live shows period of its 17th season.

On the personality-based charts, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Ellen DeGeneres lead Top Actors, Top Comedians and Top TV Personalities, respectively, once more, with Johnson in particular accruing the top post by any personality in the tracking week: an April 16 Instagram upload about landing in Calgary, Alberta, to shoot new scenes for the upcoming, currently untitled Jumanji sequel that is scheduled for a December release.
