'Social Network' to open Tokyo
Affleck's 'The Town' to wrap TIFF on Oct. 31TOKYO – “The Social Network” will open the 23rd Tokyo Film Festival on October 23, while Ben Affleck’s “The Town” will bring proceedings to a close on Oct. 31.
David Fincher’s story of website Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg, starring Jessy Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake, will take its Japanese bow at the Roppongi Hills complex, where both TIFF and the accompanying TIFFCOM market will run.
A special screening of Claude Chabrol’s “Bellamy,” starring Gérard Depardieu, will be held in honor of the French director who passed away last week on September 12.
The line-up for the World Cinema section has now also been finalized, as has the competition line-up.
The Hollywood Reporter will exclusively partner with TIFF to produce its first festival daily specials from October 24 to 27.
