Sony delays PlayStation Home a third time

Home Open will compete with Microsoft's Xbox Live

TOKYO -- The launch of Sony's PlayStation Home online platform is being delayed again, this time until autumn at the earliest.

The Home Open Beta service, Sony's PlayStation 3 equivalent of Microsoft's Xbox Live, was originally scheduled to come online at the end of last year, then delayed again until "early 2008."

"We need more time to refine the service," Sony Computer Entertainment chief Kazuo Hirai said Tuesday.
