Howard Stringer to be chairman, Bert Nordberg CEO

NEW YORK -- Sony Corp. chairman and CEO Howard Stringer is set to also take on the chairman role at the Sony Ericsson cell phone joint venture, replacing his counterpart at Ericsson, effective Oct. 15.

The outgoing Carl-Henric Svanberg will become chairman of BP in January.

The company also said Monday that Bert Nordberg, head of Ericsson's U.S. technology division, will replace Dick Komiyama as CEO of the venture. Komiyama retires at the end of the year.
