Sony Names Nicholas Weiss to Oversee Creative Ad Campaigns

The former Vibe Creative LA exec worked on the studio's successful campaign for '22 Jump Street'

Nicholas Weiss has been named senior vp creative advertising for Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The former Vibe Creative LA creative director joins the studio to oversee advertising for high-profile movie releases after Michael Pavlic, president of worldwide creative advertising, recently replaced Tommy Gargotta.

In his new role, Weiss will work on campaigns for an upcoming untitled film from writer-director Cameron Crowe and the 24th James Bond tentpole by Sam Mendes, both set for release in 2015.

While with Vibe Creative LA, Weiss worked with Sony on the campaign for 22 Jump Street, as well as other studio releases like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Maleficent, The Amazing Spider-Man and Django Unchained.

"Nick has been a close confidant of ours for years and has done stellar work for this studio. He's an incisive storyteller, has a brilliant editorial eye and an incredible drive," Pavlic said in a statement Tuesday.
