Sony Pictures Animation Names Pam Marsden to Head of Production

Pam Marsden has been promoted to head of production of Sony Pictures Animation.
The exec, who will report to SPA president Kristine Belson, was previously executive vp production, a position she held for the last six years.
In that role, Marsden was responsible for supervising all projects on SPA’s slate and recently has been overseeing every aspect of the studio's growth, according to SPA. The studio has been ramping up drastically, and its output in 2017 will be three theatrical features, two series, a short film and a direct-to-home feature. It has tripled its staff size in the last year.
"I am very fortunate to have Pam as my partner," Belson said Tuesday in a statement. "Not only has she masterfully led the dramatic growth of our operations and creative community, she's done it all with positivity and humor which I am thankful for every day."
Before acting as exec vp, Marsden produced SPA’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and its sequel. She also was an early adopter of CG in studio animation by producing Disney’s first CG animated movie, Dinosaur, as well as the home entertainment movie Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas.
This year, SPA will release Smurfs: The Lost Village, The Emoji Movie and The Star.
