The Program Still - H 2015

The home entertainment agreement covers specialty label titles like Stephen Frears' 'The Program' and 'Forsaken,' starring Kiefer Sutherland.

Entertainment One has tapped Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to distribute movie and TV titles from its Momentum Pictures banner across DVD and digital platforms worldwide, excluding Canada.

“Combining Momentum’s high-quality film and television slate with our current portfolio allows us to create a more diverse product offering to satisfy a wide range of consumer interests," Bill Stellman, executive vp and CFO at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, said Tuesday in a statement.

eOne last year relaunched Momentum as a digital and multiplatform label. Momentum's current release slate includes Stephen Frears' The Program; the western drama Forsaken, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland; and All Roads Lead to Rome, starring Sarah Jessica Parker.

Sony Pictures also will manage U.S. distribution for eOne TV titles on DVD and Blu-ray, including Haven and Bitten. eOne at the recent Toronto Film Festival unveiled a separate deal with Orion Releasing to see the two companies jointly acquire and distribute specialized multiplatform releases for the U.S. and select international territories.

"Our new distribution agreement rounds out our plans for home entertainment globally, strengthens our relationship with retail and ideally positions us as consumer behavior evolves," Nelson Kuo-Lee, COO and executive vp global film group at eOne, said in his own statement.
