Sony Pictures TV Signs Deal With French Pay TV Service OCS
The deal includes Amazon series 'Transparent' and 'Mozart in the Jungle,' as well as SPT's new superhero series 'Powers.'
Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has signed a new multi-year volume deal with French pay TV group OCS for exclusive French rights to a raft of new series and feature films, including Amazon Prime's Golden Globe-winning Transparent.
The deal, announced March 3, also includes Amazon's classical music dramedy series Mozart in the Jungle, featuring Gael Garcia Bernal and Lola Kirke, and Powers, Sony Picture Television's new superhero crime series, which will be the first original drama for the PlayStation Network. Powers, which stars Eddie Izzard, will go out on OCS, and worldwide, on March 10.
OCS, which is controlled by mobile carrier Orange, also secured first-run rights to all of SPT's new feature films, among them Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi actioner Chappie and Robert Zememkis’ drama The Walk, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Library titles include actioners White House Down, The Equalizer and Blomkamp's Elysium and Paul Greengrass' Oscar-nominated Captain Phillips.
