Sony on Thursday released the first look at Tom Hanks as the iconic Fred Rogers in the upcoming untitled film.

In the photo released by the studio, Hanks is wearing the television personality's classic red sweater and sneakers.

Director Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) helmed from a screenplay by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.

Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf will produce via their Big Beach Films, along with Youree Henley. Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster will executive produce alongside Big Beach's Leah Holzer.

The actual Rogers — star of the long-running, beloved children's TV series Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood — was the subject of the doc Won't You Be My Neighbor?, which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Rogers died in 2003.

The film opens in October 2019.
