Sony taps Lee as senior vp legal

Audrey Lee has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vp in the distribution legal affairs group at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Lee reports to Corii Berg, deputy general counsel and executive vp legal affairs, and will oversee the legal issues involved in distribution of content for the domestic pay TV, non-European international TV, digital/online/mobile and home entertainment and worldwide digital cinema.

"I have always enjoyed working on the complex legal issues involved when content is distributed across the more traditional and digital platforms, and this new position allows me to be at the cutting edge of an exciting, new entertainment frontier," Lee said.

Lee joined Sony in 2001 as an associate counsel and was promoted to assistant general counsel three years later.

Her work has included mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures as well as negotiating and drafting home entertainment distribution deals and digital-cinema agreements worldwide.

Lee also represented Sony in forming the Digital Cinema Initiatives, a multistudio joint venture that developed technical standards for digital cinema. She also worked on the studio's first d-cinema agreements as well as negotiating Blu-ray agreements with retailers.

Lee worked at idealab! and the law firm of Latham & Watkins before joining Sony.
