Sony's Video Game Movie 'Pixels' to Shoot in Toronto

Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Josh Gad are top-lining the FX-heavy film by director Chris Columbus.

TORONTO -- Sony's Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Josh Gad, will be shooting in Toronto this summer.

The movie about video game experts recruited by the government to battle 1980s video game characters attacking New York City will be directed by Chris Columbus from May 28 to Sept. 9, according to the Ontario Media Development Corp. website.

The FX-heavy Pixels will be shot at Pinewood Toronto Studios and on location in Toronto.

Pixels is based on an Internet short by Patrick Jean that gathered Hollywood attention in 2010.

Tim Herlihy and Tim Dowling worked on the script.

Jean is executive producing, while Happy Madison's Sandler and Jack Giarraputo are producing with One More Production's Benjamin Darras, Johnny Alves and Mathias Boucard.
