Sophie Tweed-Simmons Joins Indie Musical 'Country Crush' (Exclusive)
Gene Simmons' daughter will sing in the romantic drama.
Sophie Tweed-Simmons is joining the cast of Country Crush, the romantic drama that will begin production next month.
The country musical from Andrew Cymek centers on aspiring singer Nancy (newcomer Madeline Merlo), who meets country boy Charlie (Munro Chambers) when her car breaks down. Charlie follows her back to New York to continue their romance while her career takes off.
Tweed-Simmons lends some musical legacy to the film: She's the daughter of Kiss singer Gene Simmons and is herself a singer, with a season of The X Factor on her résumé. She appeared with her family on the A&E reality series Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, as well as on W Network's Shannon & Sophie with her mother, Shannon Tweed.
Tweed-Simmons will play Ainsley, Nancy's best friend who has reservations about her romance with Charlie.
Glenn Coulson and Marty Beecroft are composing and songwriting for the film, with Tal Bachman contributing in the songwriting department. Brigitte Kingsley, Nick Baillie and Robert Kingston will executive produce with Cymek. Stryker and Defiant Empire will distribute the film.
