Spanish coalition seeks anti-piracy laws

Majority uses P2P sites for illegal downloads

MADRID -- Spain's newly created Coalition of Creators and Content Industry called on the government Tuesday to crack down on piracy by providing a "better legal framework and the necessary will to apply the laws."

According to the coalition's recently completed study, 67% of all Spanish Internet users -- or 8.7 million people -- use illegal peer-to-peer programs to download illegal copies of movies, music and video games.

The coalition read a declaration asking the Spanish government to take France's lead in pursuing illegal Internet downloads.
