SPHE's Brown back to L.A. in promotion

LONDON -- Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on Tuesday said that its European chief, Matt Brown, has been promoted to executive vp international and will be returning to Los Angeles this month to take up the post.

Brown, who reports to SPHE president David Bishop, will manage SPHE's international business, including determining strategic plans for the division's international growth.

Replacing Brown as senior vp and general manager Europe is Simon McDowell, who will be based in London. He joins SPHE from the Coca-Cola Co., where he spent 11 years in a variety of senior management and global marketing roles. His most recent position was managing director for the Netherlands. McDowell reports to Brown.

"The home entertainment market is truly a global business, with the international sector becoming as critical as our domestic area," Bishop said. "As new technologies and business pressures redefine how we manage our international activities, we must respond quickly and creatively to market trends. Matt's extensive experience in the international home entertainment arena, and outstanding strategic skills, make him the ideal choice to help SPHE navigate the challenges of this new business environment."
