Spike Jonze Creates Live Dance Film on 'The Tonight Show'
Lakeith Stanfield and Mia Wasikowska star in the choreography.
Famed director Spike Jonze used Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show on Wednesday as the set for a live dance short. The film features actor Lakeith Stanfield (known for his roles on FX series Atlanta and Get Out) with actress Mia Wasikowska.
After laying together in bed, the two get up and slowly go through the motions, in what seems to be morning, before jostling into a dance routine choreographed by Ryan Heffington — the man behind Sia's moving dance-based video for "Chandelier." The song is "Nobody Speak" by DJ Shadow featuring Run the Jewels, and the short is a snippet adapted from Changers: A Dance Story, which Jonze wrote and directed.
At the end of the routine, the lights come up and we see a gleeful Fallon beside himself. As usual. Afterward, Jonze, Stanfield and Wasikowska sat together on the couch for a short interview with Fallon in which Jonze explained that the full production is about 40 minutes and explores the evolution of a relationship through dance.
