Spike Lee tribute set for Seattle

Coppola to debut 'Tetro'

The 35th Seattle International Film Festival will present Spike Lee with its 2009 Golden Space Needle Award for Outstanding Achievement in Directing on May 23 as part of a special tribute to the director. Also, on the fest's line-up, Francis Ford Coppola will accompany his newest film "Tetro" on June 10.

The tribute to Lee will include a montage of clips highlighting his work followed by a screening of "Passing Strange," his film record of of the Broadway play. Prior to the screening, Lee will appear for an in-depth interview and a Q&A session with the audience.

Coppola will be joined by Vincent Gallo, who stars in "Tetro," when he introduces the film, his first original screenplay since 1974's "The Conversation." "Tetro" is a semi-autobiographical drama about two brothers who attempt to make peace with their troubled pasts.

The 35th Seattle International Film Festival runs May 21 to June 14.
