Spike TV picks up 'Playing With Guns' pilot

Comedy stars Danny Masterson, Joey Kern

Spike TV has given the green light to a comedy pilot about slacker suburban cops.

"Playing With Guns" stars Danny Masterson ("That '70s Show") and Joey Kern ("Super Troopers") as childhood best friends who become police officers in their hometown for the everyday perks.

The project is produced by Varsity Pictures' Brian Robbins, who also is set to direct, Sharla Sumpter Bridgett and Lionsgate. Bob Castrone, Brian Levin and Jason Zumwalt are co-executive producing and wrote the pilot.

The project begins shooting this month in North Carolina.
