Spike TV revs up new auto series

'Unique Autosports' to feature sports celebrities and their cars

Spike TV has ordered a new auto-themed series that combines sports celebrities and their cars.

With a concept that's somewhere in between MTV's "Pimp My Ride" and "Cribs," Spike will roll out "Unique Autosports: Miami" next year where an auto customization shop serves upscale celebrities.

The eight-episode half-hour series includes appearances by NBA player LeBron "King" James; music icon Sean "Diddy" Combs; members of the 2009 World Series champion New York Yankees NASCAR driver/owner Tony Stewart; hip-hop artist Fat Joe; and others.

Will Castro (Facio Prods.) and Jamal Munnerlyn (Roscoe Stanley Prods.) will produce, and the show will debut Feb. 28 as part of the network's successful weekend programming.

"The auto ingenuity of Unique Autosports coupled with the star power of his friends and clients on the show make this series the perfect complement to Spike TV's PowerBlock lineup," said John Griffin, vp programming at Spike TV.
