The inaugural fest is set for April 29–May 1.

The Tennis Hall of Fame and newportFILM have partnered to create a film festival.

The event will feature sports documentaries and programming, including Sundance Film Festival award-winner Dark Horse and Olympic swimmers Missy Franklin and Kara Lynne Joyce doc Touch the Wall

The films will be shown in the Casino Theatre on the Hall of Fame property and in the USTA Wing in Newport, R.I.

“Sports deliver such a wide variety of narratives — joy, agony, triumph, defeat, dedication and much more," commented newportFILM’s artistic director and founder Andrea van Beuren. "The natural stories that come out of sports are compelling well beyond just the final scores, which is seen in the great collection of films that will be shown during the festival. The lineup will appeal to die-hard sports fans, documentary enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys a really compelling story.”

The inaugural newportFILM SPORTS film festival is set for April 29–May 1.

More information can be found at the festival's web site.
