Spot Runner startup targets local ads


CBS Corp. and advertising agencies Interpublic Group and WPP have invested in Spot Runner, a startup offering an innovative solution to local advertising placement and production.

Details of the financing were not disclosed, but each company is eyeing Spot Runner as a complement to its national advertising opportunities.

Spot Runner offers an automated, Internet-based platform that easily targets local placements across a wide variety of traditional and new media.

The new investments are part of a $40 million round of funding for Spot Runner, with other donors including Tudor Investments, Capital Research and Management and Lachlan Murdoch.
