Sprockets award bounces to 'Balls'

Cartoon wins best animation at festival

TORONTO -- U.S. director Devin Bell's "Crank Balls," a stop-motion cartoon about three cranky creatures, grabbed the audience award for best animation at the 11th annual Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children.

The audience award for best feature went to Danish director Ole Bornedal's "The Substitute," a thriller about an alien substitute school teacher.

In all, 26 features unspooled at Sprockets during its April 12-18 run.
