SPT, NBC Uni to boost CES roles in ‘08

NEW YORK -- Sony Pictures Television and NBC Universal plan to have a content-heavy presence at the 2008 International CES in Las Vegas in January.

NBC Uni said Thursday that it will be the conference’s first official broadcast partner. Select NBC Uni outlets will broadcast live from the convention floor, covering product announcements and events.

The company also will present an interactive exhibition at the conference that will showcase digital programming from its broadcast, cable and film properties.

Also on Thursday, SPT said it will present a wide range of its entertainment content at CES, including shortform, feature films, TV, mobile and gaming content. This showcase will coincide with the larger Sony presentation, which will feature the company’s electronics offerings, and also will be at the company’s booth on the exhibition floor.

“At Sony, we understand better than anyone that the marriage of great content with cutting-edge devices is what brings entertainment alive,” SPT president Steve Mosko said. “The 2008 International CES is the prefect forum to demonstrate that.”

The Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards also will take place at CES for the second consecutive year, organizers said Thursday.

CES runs Jan. 7-10.
