SPT ups Carey to sr. exec vp


NEW YORK -- Sean Carey has been promoted to senior executive vp Sony Pictures Television, where he will run the domestic digital entertainment sales group, the company said Tuesday.

Carey also will make strategic contributions to the television group.

"This move will assure that our digital endeavors are synchronized with our traditional sales efforts and that we are able to take full advantage of the unlimited opportunities these platforms have to offer," SPT president Steve Mosko said.

SPT oversees domestic digital distribution for Sony Pictures Entertainment across all platforms, including mobile and the Internet.

Carey was executive vp digital distribution and product acquisition at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, a position he was promoted to in April 2006 after being senior vp corporate development at SPE. He has spent most of his 14 years at Sony supervising corporate development and was responsible for the company's sale of Telumundo to NBC in 2002 and its acquisition of online video portal Grouper Networks in the summer, among other transactions.

"Sean has been at the forefront of the company's digital pursuits and with his background, he is the perfect person to run this group," Mosko said.
