STAR channels gain Japan foothold


NEW DELHI -- News Corp.'s STAR on Wednesday announced the launch of five of its Indian channels along with Sky News and Fox News on Japan's World on Demand IPTV service, which caters to expatriate communities. WoD is owned by the New Media Group and offers viewers the chance to interact in real-time with other viewers.

The Indian channels include Hindi entertainment outlets Star Plus, Star One and Star Utsav along with regional channel Vijay and Hindi news channel Star News.

"By partnering with TNMG, East Asian communities in Japan can now enjoy STAR's innovative and record-breaking Indian programming that their fellow countrymen see everyday back home," said Deane Sadler, STAR vp advertising sales and distribution Japan.
