J.J. Abrams' blockbuster is winding down its run in theaters, ranking as the No. 3 film of all time at the worldwide box office.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming to a living room near you, beginning on April Fool's Day.

On Thursday, Disney and StarWars.com announced that J.J. Abrams' blockbuster will be available for digital HD download on April 1, followed by the Blu-ray combo pack and DVD release on April 5.

The news came as Force Awakens begins to wind down its run in theaters. The movie has earned $2.049 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the No. 3 title of all time, behind Avatar ($2.788 billion) and Titanic ($2.187 billion), not accounting for inflation.

Disney CEO-chairman Bob Iger announced the digital release date first at Disney's annual shareholders meeting. The DVD release date was revealed shortly afterwards on Star Wars.com.

"Fans around the world will soon be able to own the epic movie," Iger said.
