Stars spark to arcs on TV shows

Nia Vardalos, Adhir Kalyan among several with series gigs

Nia Vardalos has signed on for a multi-episode arc on the TBS comedy "My Boys," while "Aliens in America" co-star Adhir Kalyan is set for a recurring role on FX's drama "Nip/Tuck" and Gabriel Mann will recur on AMC's drama "Mad Men."

Vardalos will appear in three episodes of "Boys," from Sony Pictures Television, Pariah and Two Out Rally Prods. She will play Andy Franklin's (Jim Gaffigan) "work wife" in the comedy, which has its second-season debut June 12.

Vardalos next appears on the big screen in the Tom Hanks-directed "A Wilderness of Monkeys," which she adapted from Laura Zigman's novel "Piece of Work." She is repped by CAA and manager Peter Safran.

In "Nip/Tuck," Kalyan will play Dr. Raj, an intelligent, socially awkward recent medical school graduate who happens to be 16 years old. Dr. Raj comes on board to help Christian (Julian McMahon) with surgeries following Sean's (Dylan Walsh) stabbing. "Nip/Tuck" is in production on its sixth season, with the premiere date yet to be determined.

Kalyan also has booked roles in the films "Fired Up" for Screen Gems and "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" for Columbia and Happy Madison Prods. In "Fired Up," a teen comedy about two guys who go to cheerleader camp to meet girls, Kalyan will Brewster, a neat freak who takes his cheerleading very seriously. In "Mall Cop," he plays Sanjay, a scrawny teenage boy who is angry and heartsick over his recent breakup and eventually becomes instrumental in helping a mall security guard (Kevin James) thwart a group of thieves.

Kalyan is repped by Marni Rosenzweig at Abrams Artists Agency, Thruline Entertainment and attorney Jeff Bernstein.

"Mad Men," from Lionsgate, just went into production on its second season for a July premiere. Mann will play Arthur, a wealthy, educated man of privilege who becomes associated with Betty (January Jones).

Mann's credits include the films "The Bourne Identity," "The Bourne Supremacy," "A Lot Like Love" and "The Life of David Gale." He is repped by Innovative Artists, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Allison Binder.
