A+E's British joint venture takes exclusive linear TV rights on the pirating show.

Starz’s swashbuckling pirating series Black Sails is set to land on British TV following a deal with A+E Networks U.K.

The multichannel network, a joint venture between U.S cable giant A+E and satellite broadcaster BSkyB, announced Tuesday that it had acquired exclusive linear TV rights for the Emmy-winning show, which will show on its History channel.

The series — which is currently filming its third season — will also air in South Africa, where A+E Networks U.K. recently opened an office.

The deal marks A+E Networks U.K.'s first pact with Starz, and follows on from the success of Vikings in the U.K. The first season of the show was broadcast on History last year, becoming the channel’s highest-rated series ever.
