Starz, Landis tackle film cross-dressing

'Hairspray,' 'Mrs. Doubtfire' among features in special

Starz has teamed up with filmmaker John Landis for an hourlong special focusing on the history of cross-dressing in film.

"Starz Inside: Ladies or Gentlemen," set to air at 10 p.m. Dec. 16, is inspired by Jean-Louis Ginibre's book and will include such performances as John Travolta in "Hairspray," Robin Williams in "Mrs. Doubtfire," the Wayans brothers in "White Chicks," Tim Curry in "Rocky Horror Picture Show," Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in "Some Like It Hot" and Dustin Hoffman in "Tootsie."

Kevin Burns' Prometheus Entertainment is producing, with Burns serving as exec producer.
