Steve Martin And The Steep Canyon Rangers Perform July 4th Capitol Show (Video)

The Bluegrass band is heading to the U.K. for a brief tour in support of their new album, “Rare Bird Alert.”

Steve Martin took to the U.S. Capitol this Independence Day with his banjo and his bluegrass band, the Steep Canyon Rangers, to celebrate the spirit of the day with their American themed songs “The Orange Blossom Special” and “Me and Paul Revere.” The group released their sophomore album, “Rare Bird Alert,” in March.

Rounder Records recently announced that the Grammy winning group will tour the U.K. this summer to promote their new album. They will hit the London HMV Hammersmith Apollo on July 8th, the Manchester 02 Apollo on July 9th and Glasgow Clyde Cultural Hall on July 10th.

Martin has won four Grammy’s, including Best Bluegrass Album for “The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo” in 2009, and a 2001 nod for his collaboration with Earl Scruggs on “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” He also nabbed two comedy album honors for 1978’s “Wild And Crazy Guy” and 1977’s “Let’s Get Small.”
