Steven Soderbergh Showcase Set for Tokyo Film Festival
The screenings of the Oscar-winning director's movies will be the inaugural edition of a program dedicated to influential filmmakers from the Americas.
Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will host a World of Steven Soderbergh program at this year's event, with the versatile director appearing at a Q&A session in Tokyo.
Soderbergh — who won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1989 for his debut Sex, Lies and Videotape at age 26 and an Oscar for Traffic in 2000 — will be featured in the first of a series on influential filmmakers from the Americas, supported by American Airlines.
Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Ocean's Eleven (2001), Haywire (2011) and this year's Logan Lucky will be screened at TIFF.
The full TIFF lineup will be announced Tuesday.
The 30th edition TIFF will take place from Oct. 25 to Nov. 3.
