Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios are adapting the best-selling book by Donna Tartt.

Finn Wolfhard, one of the stars of Stranger Things, has joined the cast of The Goldfinch, the adaptation of the Donna Tartt best-seller being made by Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios.

John Crowley (Brooklyn) is directing the drama, which is toplined by Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort as Theo, a young man who loses his mother in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and is taken in by a wealthy family, only to be drawn into New York City's art underworld.

The story tracks two narratives: one focusing on a young Theo as he struggles to cope with the loss of his mother while navigating his new family life, and the other on the adult Theo as he tries to recover a famous painting.

Wolfhard has nabbed the key role of Young Boris, a Ukrainian student and troublemaker who bonds with Theo due to their both having lost their mothers and who introduces him to drugs and alcohol.

Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson and Aneurin Barnard also have roles in the movie, which will begin shooting later this month.

Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force are producing.

In addition to playing Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, Wolfhard starred in It, the adaptation of the Stephen King novel that was a box office phenomenon last year. He will next be seen in DreamWorks' upcoming horror thriller The Turning and LD Entertainment's Dog Day. The actor, who is in a garage rock band called Calpurnia, will also be a lead voice in Netflix's animated series Carmen Sandiego.

He is repped by CAA, manager Ryan Thomson at Velocity Entertainment and Karl Austen at Jackoway Tyerman.
