Paddington the Bear Still - H 2014

Matthew Gledhill joins the team behind last year's smash-hit 'Paddington,' while Danny Perkins now oversees all U.K. production.

A year after it kickstarted not one but two global family franchises following the box-office successes of Paddington and Shaun the Sheep the Movie, StudioCanal has expanded its international team.

Matthew Gledhill has joined the growing French mini-major as senior vp international production, joining the unit that was behind both hit films, the company announced Wednesday. Gledhill will act as executive producer on StudioCanal's in-house international features, also overseeing titles produced by its Brussels-based 3D animation studio nWave Pictures.

Underlining the company's increasing focus on British filmmaking, its U.K. CEO Danny Perkins has also seen his role expanded to cover U.K production and securing British talent.

Paul King, the director who helped bring the first Paddington film to life that reaped an international haul in excess of $250 million from a budget of around $55 million, is back on board to write and helm the sequel.
