STX Names Andy Leyshon U.K. Managing Director of International Division
He previously headed sales for the U.K. and Ireland for Universal Pictures U.K.
Andy Leyshon has joined STX Entertainment as U.K. managing director of STX's International Division, it was announced by David Kosse, president of STX International, to whom he will report. Leyshon will be responsible for sales and distribution, securing partnerships and maintaining relationships with U.K. distributors and overseeing the theatrical and multi-platform of STX’s content, specifically by identifying opportunities, securing partnerships and maintaining relationships with distributors in the U.K. and overseeing the theatrical and multi-platform release of STX films.
Leyshon joins STX from Universal Pictures U.K., where he has served as head of sales for the U.K. and Ireland. Leyshon had been sales director for Universal Pictures U.K. & Eire since 2006 and, during his tenure with the company, launched the U.K. office as a territory startup operation. From 2000 to 2006, Leyshon also held senior sales position at Momentum Pictures, one of the U.K.’s independent distribution companies.
"I've known and worked with Andy for 15 years across two companies,” Kosse said in announcing the appointment. “He has great taste and a fantastic knowledge of the U.K. market, and he knows how to handle all types of films. I'm tremendously excited that he is joining us and helping build our new distribution business here in London.”
Leyshon’s first assignments will be overseeing sales and distribution of an untitled action-comedy directed by Nash Edgerton and co-financed by STX and Amazon Studios. STX launched international sales on the film, which stars David Oyelowo, Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, Yul Vazquez and Sharlto Copley, at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
