Style Notes: A$AP Rocky Covers GQ Style; A Sensible Shoe Emoji May Be on the Horizon
In case you missed it.
A$AP Rocky Covers GQ Style [GQ Style]
Multihyphenate A$AP Rocky is the cover star for GQ Style's holiday issue. The 29-year-old spoke with editor Will Welch, answering a range of questions which were fielded from Rocky's contemporaries and friends, including Mahershala Ali and Dior menswear designer Kris Van Assche. Along with other members of the A$AP Mob, who were in the room for the unconventional interview, Rocky recalled some of his wilder days, as well as what's next in the realms of fashion (he has an ongoing project with Under Armour in the works), acting (he's starring in Anthony Mandler's Monster) and music (his fourth solo album is due out before the end of the year). The accompanying photos include plenty of designer labels, including Acne, Lanvin, Gucci and Balenciaga.
A Sensible Women's Shoe Emoji Might Be Coming Soon [The Atlantic]
Florie Hutchinson is seeking a more sensible shoe option for the emoji keyboard. After her phone suggested the red high-heel stiletto emoji when she typed the word "shoe" in conversation with a friend back in November 2016, Hutchinson became inspired to add a flat shoe to the emoji lexicon. The arts-focused public relations specialist reached out to a graphic designer and the pair created a navy ballet flat, which they then submitted to the Unicode Consortium, which accepts emoji ideas from the public. The flat made the list of 67 finalists (alongside a cupcake and a frowny poop), and will be voted upon this week by the Consortium.
Nordstrom Is Taking Clothing Donations [Racked]
Following in the footsteps of H&M and Madewell, Nordstrom is now taking clothing donations from customers who want to recycle their old apparel to make room for new goods. The department store partnered on the project with Give Back Box, an organization that distributes used clothing to charities like Goodwill. In-store donation drop-offs will be piloted in six locations in Washington state to start.
