In case you missed it.
Drake Chooses Prada for World Tour [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
Drake will be rocking Prada exclusively for the next nine dates of his global Boy Meets World Tour. The rapper, who is currently in Australia, will wear looks inspired by "Prada nylon" that includes flight suits, windbreakers and track pants in shades of red, black and silver. Aidy Bryant Wants to Launch a Clothing Line [The Cut]
Saturday Night Live star Aidy Bryant opened up to New York Magazine's Anna Silman about the challenges of being a size 18 woman in the entertainment industry, and confessed that she often makes her own clothes with the help of SNL and 30 Rock stylist Remy Pearce. Bryant noted that she and Pearce have been working to adapt patterns that were custom made for her into sizes 12 through 24. “I’m just trying to get the things that I have access to out there for the masses — like when I wanted something cool to wear to a meeting or an audition or whatever and not just be wearing a black sack," she said. "Although I love a black sack. Black sack is my mainstay. But if you don’t have a choice, you’re trapped, you know?"
Atop @aidybryant's Instagram feed, a string of ultragirly emojis — unicorn, bow, nail polish, heart, flowers, crystal, candy, poodle, cake, present, ribbon — surround the word BAD in all caps. Hanging out with Bryant is a bit like existing inside that caption: mostly hearts and rainbows, with an occasional burst of subversive BAD-girl energy. Read her cover story on the Cut. Mary J. Blige, Cindy Sherman Cover W Magazine's Art Issue [W Mag]
Mary J. Blige and photographer Cindy Sherman are the two artists chosen to cover W magazine's art issue. In their respective profiles, Blige opens up about her breakout performance in Dee Rees' Netflix film Mudbound, while Sherman expounds on why she dislikes selfies, even though she herself stars in many of her own portraits. “I actually hate the idea of selfies," she said. "People say ‘Oh, but you’re, like, the queen of selfies.’ I really kind of cringe at that thought.” A regal-looking Blige was photographed by Carrie Mae Weems for her cover, while Sherman's cover is a selfie she took for a series for W that exposes "how culture shapes appearances."
Kim Kardashian Takes Twitter Stand After Texas Shooting [Twitter]
Following Sunday's mass shooting in the small community of Sutherland, Texas, Kim Kardashian decided to use her platform to call out Congress for lack of action in response to the rising number of mass shootings taking place in the U.S. The reality star, who has more than 56 million followers on Twitter alone, screen-grabbed a tweet from entrepreneur and filmmaker Michael Skolnik, which reads: "One shoe bomber tried to blowup a plane and now we take off our shoes. 1520 mass shootings since Sandy Hook and congress has done NOTHING." Because Twitter is Twitter, the replies to her tweet were split with those attacking her ("stick to selfies") and those showing support ("Kim, thank you.")
Hope Hicks Wore a Tuxedo in Tokyo [Twitter]
While dining Sunday evening at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and President Donald Trump, Hope Hicks donned a tuxedo in lieu of the knee-length shift dresses she's been known to gravitate towards. Hicks' chic look (reminiscent of a pantsuit worn by Evan Rachel Wood during awards season) stood in sharp contrast to the more traditional red floor-length Valentino gown worn by first lady Melania Trump. The sartorial risk was applauded by CNN's Kate Bennett, who wrote, "Ok so Hope Hicks wore a tux last night to the dinner in Japan and I'm dead thnx bye."
