Turkish Designer Jailed [BBC News]
Turkish fashion designer Barbaros Sansal, a vocal critic of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development party, posted an angry video on Twitter on New Year's Eve criticizing those out celebrating while there is "so much filth, vileness and poverty" in the world. The video was posted shortly before the attack at a Turkish nightclub that killed 39. Sansal, who was vacationing in Cyprus, was made to return to Istanbul, where he was attacked by a mob on the tarmac. He was jailed (at a facility which is also holding several journalists) upon his return for "inciting hatred among the public." Sansal's lawyer says he says he fears for his life.
