Richemont Makes Bid for Yoox Net-a-Porter Group [Quartz]
Richemont has made a $3.3 billion bid for Yoox Net-a-Porter Group, the conglomerate that formed when Yoox and Net-a-Porter merged in 2015. The Swiss luxury giant is looking to capitalize on the company's solid growth record, which has put it far ahead of its competitors. Richemont already owned approximately half of the company, having bought a controlling stake in Net-a-Porter in 2010. The bid puts YNAP's value at about $6.1 billion. Said CEO Federico Marchetti in a statement on Instagram: "Richemont aims to provide additional resources that further strengthen and accelerate YNAP’s long-term leadership in online luxury. This means investing even more in product, technology, logistics, people and marketing."
