Style Notes: North West Does Ballet in Balmain; Joan Rivers Exhibit to Open
Get your fill of fashion with these four stories.
Adorable tiny person North West is already well on her way to street-style stardom. The tot was spotted out and about after her ballet class with her mama (perhaps you've heard of her — name's Kim Kardashian) wearing a bright white Balmain leather jacket over her white tutu, for an on-trend summer look. But really, would you expect anything less? [Elle]
The late comedienne Joan Rivers is being honored with an exhibit at L.A.'s Grammy Museum entitled "Joan Rivers: Can We Talk?" Opening on June 8, the space will display various stage costumes, awards, and family photos, as well as Rivers' vintage Louis Vuitton trunks. After being left out of the In Memoriam tribute at this year's Grammys, the exhibit feels more than well-deserved. [THR]
After all the hooplah on Tuesday surrounding the rumors that Band of Outsiders was shuttering, today we're hit with more bad news. A sales associate let it slip to WWD that the New York store location would be closed "effectively at the end of June." Though founder Scott Sternberg has been hush hush regarding the company's future, the employee's loose lips only seem to confirm the sad rumors. Whoops. [WWD]
If you follow any fashion bloggers on Instagram, then you've likely seen the Valentino Rockstud shoes (pointy toe, T-bar straps outfitted with studs — you know the ones). Thanks to the popularity of the style, which are available in both heels and flats, Valentino's sales have doubled since their 2010 release. With accessories accounting for more than half of 2014 sales, the Rockstud styles are shaping up to be the next icon of the Instagram generation and a staple in the Valentino lineup for years to come.
