Burberry and Coach Might Be Considering a Merger [Business of Fashion]
Blog Betaville reported that Coach might be considering a merger with Burberry. Following the news, shares for Burberry rose 4.8 percent. The American and British brands do have a similar aesthetic, and Luca Solca, head of luxury goods at Exane BNP Paribas, told BoF that Burberry could be considered "the British Coach." While Burberry has been struggling in recent months (thanks in part to Brexit, among other factors), Coach has been on an upswing. After a few years, the brand's turnaround strategy has finally begun to pay off. Both Burberry and Coach declined to comment on the news.

Business of Fashion first reported that Marni's founder and current creative director, Consuelo Castiglioni, will be stepping down from her position after more than 20 years, effective immediately. Taking her place is Francesco Risso, whose experience includes stints at Malo and Prada. In a statement, Castiglioni said the decision to move on was a personal one. "These were hectic and exciting years which absorbed all of my energies to create a project I am proud of," she said. "Thanks also to the constant support of my family who allowed me to stay true to my idea, I built a brand with a precise and recognizable identity."

Designer Richard Nicoll Dead at 39 [The Sydney Morning Herald]
Award-winning fashion designer Richard Nicoll passed away from a heart attack in Sydney on Thursday at the age of 39. The Central Saint Martins-educated designer, who was born in London, was considered one of the driving forces behind the growth of the Australian fashion movement. Prior to launching his namesake label in 2005 (which he shuttered in 2015), Nicoll held positions at Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton. Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller were among his celebrity fans; Victoria Beckham also Instagrammed her condolences on Friday morning, calling Nicoll's death "a tragic loss for the industry and everyone who knew and loved him."
