Submarine Sells Four Docs To Canada

Ron Mann's filmswelike acquires four films, including Celine Dahnier's "Blank City," for Canadian theatrical, DVD and digital release.

TORONTO – Canadian boutique distributor filmswelike has picked up four feature documentaries from Submarine Entertainment.

Filmswelike, led by veteran Canadian filmmaker Ron Mann, acquired all domestic rights to Bill Cunningham New York, by Richard Press, Celine Dahnier’s Blank City, Bill Haney’s The Last Mountain and Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles, by Jon Foy.

"One often hears at film festivals that documentaries played better than the fiction films. Case in point: these documentaries, which all played major film festivals struck us as really the best in contemporary cinema,” Mann said in a statement. filmswelike will release the four films theatrically, followed by a DVD & digital release on the distributor’s label.

The distribution deal was negotiated by David Koh, Josh Braun and Dan Braun for Submarine Entertainment, and by Mann for filmswelike.
