'Submarino' closes multiple territories

Match Factory sells Thomas Vinterberg drama

BERLIN -- Thomas Vinterberg is ready for a celebration after the Danish director's "Submarino," running in competition in Berlin, closed several major territory deals.

The Match Factory sold the drama to France (MK2), Italy (Mikado), Spain (Golem), Benelux (Cinemien), Japan (Bitters End), Taiwan (Atom Cinema) and Columbia (Babilla).

Considered by many critics a return to form for Vinterberg, "Submarino" is an unflinching look at the lives of two brothers: one an angry ex-con, the other a single father and heroin addict.
