9 Must-Haves to Save Your Skin From Sundance's Chill
Hollywood's top beauty pros — Molly R. Stern, Nick Barose and Sabrina Bedrani — pick their favorite products for keeping skin moisturized and glowing in Park City's frigid climate.
While packing for the Sundance Film Festival, running Jan. 21-31, be sure to grab these skincare must-haves before braving Park City's chilly weather. Here, Tinseltown's top makeup gurus share their favorite products for maintaining radiant skin and keeping makeup lasting through the long days and nights during the annual fest.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s go-to artist recommends a hydrating spray for the cold weather. "I’m a fan of Murad’s Hydrating Toner moisture mist ($28; sephora.com)," says Barose. "Mist the face throughout the day, so makeup looks fresh and it doesn’t dry out."
Barose, who also counts Lupita Nyong'o as a client, recommends a hydrating mask for the cold weather. “I love those super hydrating leave-on masks like Sisley Floral mask ($140; nordstrom.com). Massage the mask into the the skin before applying makeup, but blot away excess. For night I leave it on without blotting."
He also advises Sundance attendees to wear a glowy foundation, since regular foundation can look "too matte." His choice? The new Armani Marstro Glow Elixir ($64; giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com). "It freshens up the complexion and has luminous texture that's perfect for cold weather."
Bedrani likes to hydrate the skin with Dior’s Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Crème ($165; dior.com). To add radiance, "I love the Glow Maximizer ($42, dior.com)," explains Bedrani who has worked with past Sundance attendee Hailee Steinfeld. "I mix a drop of it into the foundation to give the skin a nice moisturized glow and dab a little of it on top of the cheekbone after applying the foundation."
A new favorite of Felicity Jones' beauty guru is Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Powder ($52; dior.com). The fine powder sets the makeup without looking cakey or powdery, "It’s practically invisible," gushes Bedrani. "It’s the perfect powder to keep the makeup looking as natural as possible."
MOLLY R. STERN
Stern is also a believer in a killer hand cream and recommends Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve ($22; nordstrom.com). "It really soothes, and if you work with your hands, it’s your best friend."
Beautycounter Lip Conditioner Calendula Balm ($18; beautycounter.com) is a great choice for the lips, according to Reese Witherspoon’s longtime makeup artist. Made from avocado oil and shea butter, "It keeps the lips moist without the grease."
"I am madly in love Natura Bisse The Cure Pure Serum ($260; barneys.com)," says Stern, who also works with Sundance veteran Jennifer Connelly. "It’s major in the moisture retention department and it’s filled with antioxidants that restore and heal the skin."
