Sundance Channel announces comedy block

Sunday night shows will launch in September

At its first Television Critics Assn. press tour since moving under the Rainbow Media umbrella, Sundance Channel announced it's developing a Sunday night comedy block.

The block will launch in September with six-part series "The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle," about a brazenly honest daytime talk show host played by Jennifer Saunders ("Absolutely Fabulous"). The show debuts Sept. 7.

The second hour of the comedy block will have an encore presentation of the six-part Australian sketch comedy series "Big Girl's Blouse." Additional comedy series will be announced soon.

Sundance also announced a fashion week programming stunt starting Sept. 22 featuring seven fashion-themed films. The premiere of "Ralph Rucci: A Designer and His House" headlines.
