The film, which will air on TV as part of PBS' 'American Masters' series, made its world premiere Jan. 21 as part of Sundance's opening-night festivities.

Music Box Films and Netflix have acquired the rights to the Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing documentary Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You.

Music Box, in conjunction with PBS and American Masters Pictures, will release the film theatrically in June prior to a fall broadcast on PBS stations as part of the American Masters series, followed by the SVOD premiere on Netflix. PBS Distribution, the leading media distributor for the public television community, will handle DVD and digital distribution.

The film chronicles the life of the creator of such iconic TV series as All in the Family, The Jeffersons and Maude. From his rise as the son of an imprisoned criminal to comedy writer at the dawn of television to creator of some of the most boundary-pushing and game-changing hits in TV history, the outspoken liberal also has battled the Moral Majority throughout his career.

Russell Simmons, Alan Horn, John Amos, Bill Moyers and George Clooney also appear in the doc.

Just Another Version of You made its world premiere Jan. 21 as part of Sundance's opening-night festivities. The screening was followed by a rousing Q&A with Lear, who said of the current presidential field: "We're not in a very lovely place when you look at the clowns who are presently [running].

Suzanne Hillinger and Brent Miller produced the doc, while Michael Kantor executive produced.

Submarine repped the filmmakers.
