Sunday primetime fails to spring ahead

With clocks leaping forward an hour Sunday, most primetime shows gave weaker-than-usual performances.

The second episode of NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" (7.6 million viewers, 3.1 rating/8 share in adults 18-49) dropped a sharp 21% compared with last week's debut. The two-hour reality show placed second in its time period, while ABC topped the night with its drama block.

ABC aired a season-low "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (9.4 million, 2.9/8), followed by "Desperate Housewives" matching its series low (13.5 million, 4.6/11) and an on-par "Brothers & Sisters" (10.5 million, 3.5/9).

Meanwhile, the Season 2 debut of AMC's "Breaking Bad" showed considerable growth compared with last year. "Bad" (1.7 million viewers) was up 21% in total viewers from its first-season premiere. (partialdiff)
