How to Score Katy Perry's Super Bowl Makeup

Artist Jake Bailey created "a classic Katy look" for the halftime show.

Halftime performer Katy Perry stole the Super Bowl XLIX show in Glendale, Ariz., with her out-of-this-world wardrobe and dazzling makeup look to match.

“Today is one of the most exciting days of my career! Knowing my work would be seen by millions and millions of people, I've been understandably nervous,” said Perry’s makeup artist, Jake Bailey, in a press release.

Using exclusively CoverGirl products, Bailey sought to create a look that would transition effortlessly with Perry’s four Jeremy Scott-designed outfits during the 12-minute performance. "I decided to go with a classic Katy look," he explained, "elongated cat eyes, lots of mascara, super-sparkly gold and silver glitter, and a bold red lip for glamour and showmanship."

Bailey started out by prepping Perry’s face and neck with CoverGirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation in Natural Beige. Next, he used CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eye Pencil in Black Onyx to create her elongated cat eye, followed by a line of glitter adhesive painted above the liner. Using a small eyeliner brush, Bailey dabbed gold and silver glitter across her lids. To round out Perry’s eyes, the artist then turned to CoverGirl Eye Shadow Quads in Blooming Blushes, followed by two coats of CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara by Lash Blast in Very Black painted on curled lashes.

To define Perry’s brows, the artist used CoverGirl Pow-der Brow & Liner in Dark Brown, then turned to CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush in Roses to both highlight and add dimension to her cheeks, topped with CoverGirl TruMagic Luminizer on her cheekbones and brow bones for added shine.

Perry’s dewy, deep-red pout came to life with CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner, a coat of new CoverGirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Hot and a touch of CoverGirl Colorlicious Lip Lava Lipgloss in Mauva Lava. Said Bailey: "Truly a classic red, for a classic Katy look."
