'Super Troopers 2' Meets Crowdfunding Goal In One Day

Comedy troupe Broken Lizard describes its response to the funding as "simultaneously humbled and pumped."

As it turns out, almost 20,000 people are ready for more Super Troopers, with the crowdfunding campaign to create a sequel to the 2001 comedy hitting its funding target in its first day.

The Indiegogo campaign asked fans to provide $2 minimum by April 24 in order to ensure a summer start of production on the movie. Broken Lizard — the comedy troupe behind the project, made up of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske — suggested that if that amount wasn't met, there would likely never be a movie. Fans were apparently eager to help, with the campaign having raised more than $2,033,000 at time of writing, with 30 days left to run.

In an update to the campaign published late Tuesday, Broken Lizard collectively described their reaction to fan response as being "simultaneously humbled and pumped. Pumbled is probably the best way to describe it."

The fact that the campaign has broken the $2 million mark means that, as the campaign's graphic helpfully explains, Super Troopers 2 will be the "Best movie. Ever."
